About Us

Our vision

At Fairfield Baptist Church, our mission is to

“In unity be a fully functioning Biblical community, demonstrating the love, grace and truth of Christ, through our worship, walk and witness.”

We will do this as we:

What we believe

  • That the Bible is the inspired Word of God and our only guide for what we believe and how we live.
  • That Jesus Christ is truly God and truly human.
  • That Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty of all our sin.
  • That a person is saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
  • That membership in the Christian Church is for those who are truly born again by God’s Spirit.
  • That the immersion of believers as the only scriptural form of water baptism.
  • That the church is made up of believers, and through the church we serve Jesus, one another and those who do not know Him.  Jesus taught this by word and example.
  • That our mission as a church (relying on God’s Spirit), is to share the life changing message of Jesus with people and help them become lifelong followers of Jesus.
  • That everything we do as a church will be measured against this purpose.
  • That at Fairfield Baptist, visitors and people seeking to explore Christianity will find a warm and welcoming place.

New Zealand Baptists

The Baptist Church is a Christian movement of churches represented in most nations throughout the world.   At the heart of Baptist movement life is worship and the honouring of God through evangelical mission.  Baptists believe the Good News about Jesus Christ and that His death and resurrection is a message which needs to be heard.  They have accepted the biblical mandate to speak out this message in both word and deed.  While the churches vary greatly in style, and the Baptists who make them up come from many different  ethnicities, cultures and economic groupings, all share four distinctive beliefs

Our Sunday services

We meet together at 10am each Sunday.  There’s great fellowship; worship; good down to earth and practical teaching from the Word of God that is relevant to the challenges of today’s world, and all provided within an environment of friendly caring people.  We have wheelchair access and can move seats anywhere to accommodate a wheelchair or prams.  After the service, and there is an opportunity to mix and mingle and get to know people over a cuppa.

Meet the team

Pastor Ross and Karyn Wooodhouse

Ross is passionate to see people connected to Jesus and having a growing relationship in him. Every person wants to experience hope. We do not hope for what we already have. So as we connect with Jesus (the only REAL hope) we are more able and equipped to handle the complexities of life. Ross believes the local church is an avenue through which people can find this hope and connection.
We have a wonderful team of Elders, Deacons and staff who as a leadership team meet regularly for planning, accountability and prayer.
